"Have you seen Lauri?" Marlene asked Ron about an hour after his chat with the young woman in the upstairs hall.

"Ah...no, why?" He was a bit unnerved. Why was his wife Marlene was asking about Lauri, a co-worker who was using her knowledge about an indiscretion he'd committed to blackmail him into sleeping with her. Even though Ron was a willing victim to the blackmail.

"I can't believe it," she continued. They were in the kitchen putting dishes in the dishwasher as the party wound down. "I think she's drunk, I really do. I never knew she drank that much."

Drunk? Maybe Ron wouldn't have to worry about going to Lauri's house after the party. He'd do a lot of things to seduce women he wanted, but getting them drunk, was one thing he wouldn't do.

"You sure?" he said. "I talked to her about an hour ago and she didn't seem drunk then."

Marlene shrugged. "I don't know. She sounded drunk a few minutes ago. She could hardly stand up." ...
