The divorce was final three months ago.

"Sorry," she'd said. "It just doesn't work for me anymore."

No kids, and no real property to split, it had been pretty easy. We'd both had one fling while married, but that wasn't what broke us up. She'd just lost interest. To be honest, so had I.

I hadn't been sulking, though. I was too busy. The job kept me occupied most days from eight until eight. By the time I made it back to my apartment, I would just fall out and go to sleep. It was the dreams that made me realize how much I missed a real relationship.
