A Steady Safe Supply: An Unexpected Addition

I stopped at Rosalind Ducote's desk and asked her to come to my office when she had a free minute. She nodded and said, "How about fifteen minutes. I'm waiting on the supply order that's on it way. Once I check the inventory I'll be free. That suitable?"

I smiled, tapped her desk top and said, "Perfect. Bring a notepad." I spun around and went down the hallway to the Break Room. I poured coffee in my personal mug, dug through the pastry box and selected a small chocolate Éclair. I wrapped it in a fresh napkin and went to my office to enjoy my sparse breakfast. I was cleaning away the droppings when Rosalind appeared in the doorway. I waved her in and had her sit at the conference table.

I threw the napkin away and joined her. I smiled and said, "Don't be so serious Rosalind. Take a break from the long face." She stared at me and then said, "If things worked the way they're supposed to it would be easier to smile. I have a constant battle with the mail room, the supply department, and the accounting people. They give me nothing to smile about at any time."

"Whoa! Why wasn't I made aware of those problems?"

"I can't answer that. I've reported my problems many times to Clay ...
