Of all the companies I could ever find myself working for, one of the last ones I expected to offer me a job as an office junior - I had to start somewhere - was an advertisement agency.

It was almost mid autumn. The end of October, to be precise. What with the many seasonal Christmas and then New Year sales advertisement campaigns: posters, magazine and newspaper, not forgetting Television adverts, it was the busiest time of the year for Ad agencies like the one that hired me.

In all, they took on five temporary employees, including myself, and paid us normal wage rates. For the next three months, at the end of which we were told that at least one of us would be offered a full-time position, we were very much in competition with one another

The one point of note from my CV that impressed the woman and man who interviewed me was my immaculate score of 100% for my presentation exam - Presentations being what advertising is all about.
