I am not sure how or why it happened, but it did. This is what happened, all of it. I have to write it down because I am not sure I believe it myself.

I was away for the weekend researching for my book. Normally I stay in a B&B or a travel lodge but this time there were none that suited my needs, so I had booked into a hotel. The hotel was very busy with some sort of conference and a wedding but they had put me in the annexe. This was an old stable block which had been converted into a facility that could be four rooms or a complete apartment. This weekend it was being used as four rooms. The room I had was quite nice but I think one of the smaller ones. There was a shared kitchen and a nice enclosed courtyard with some benches. tables and a BBQ. I could use all the hotel facilities as well.

After a shower I decided to sit in the sun in the courtyard before going up to try and get some dinner. I was soon joined by a man who introduced himself as Tim. He was at the conference. Soon two women came out and sat on a nearby bench. I assumed they were travelling together but it turned out they were not. They had just met in the kitchen and started talking. After a while I asked Tim if the restaurant was any good. He said it hadn't been great, as the staff were rushed off their feet and tonight would probably be worse because of the wedding.
