My retirement condo in south Florida was just about perfect. There were lots of activities, and although statistics claim that women outlive men, there did seem to be a large number of single men here-divorced, widowed.

The other thing about this community was it was less than two hours to Miami and an affiliate of the Nightclub. A place where a woman, particular of my age, could very discretely enjoy the company of a much younger man. I had been a member of the Chicago Nightclub for years and it was easy enough to apply for membership in Miami.

THE NIGHTCLUB

I should probably tell you how the Nightclub started. It began with an investigative reporter for a big midwestern newspaper, Meredith Foley. She wrote a 20,000 word expose on the gentlemen's clubs which were common in many Midwest cities in the 1960's. Not only did her editor reject it, but she was fired.

Meredith tried to get it published in magazines. No luck. An old friend, Anna Porter, came to her rescue.

Anna Porter's family had money, old money that had been in the family long before the Civil War. She was the black sheep of the family. In the ‘50's she would have been called a Bohemian; in the ‘60's a hippie, ...
