"Could you do me a favor and drop some stuff off at Trish's house today?" Ed Luce's wife Marilyn asked him one morning.

"Sure," he replied. Trish, one of Marilyn's co-workers, was a tidy little thing with an equally tidy little body. Ed wouldn't mind a chance to see her.

"The stuff is in those bags on the sofa in the living room," Marilyn continued. "We aren't going to need baby things any more, so I figured I might as well give them to someone who could use them."

"Baby things? Is she pregnant?" Ed was surprised. The last time he'd seen Trish, at a party, she was anything but pregnant.

"Almost eight months," Marilyn said. "I thought I told you."

"If you did, I didn't remember," Ed said. "Isn't she going to be at work today?" he asked.

"She has the week off," Marilyn said. "I told her you'd bring the stuff over this morning." ...
