Love in the Time of Cabin Fever

I hit the off button on the ROKU remote, stood and went to the kitchen. I poured a glass of iced tea from the pitcher, took a sip and let my eyes fall on the fridge calendar. It's been three weeks since the damned virus isolated me inside and I'm ready to defy the President, the Governor, and my own good senses and get outside. Hopefully, if I do risk the outside, I might see a neighbor who isn't too petrified to talk if we stay six feet apart. I took another long sip, looked at the clock and saw that the news would be on so I went back to the Den and turned the ROKU to ABC. I couldn't sit. There on the screen was the President and his virus team giving up the continual update on the spread of the virus and informing us about all the phantom things the government isn't doing to contain the virus and help us citizens.

I hit the off button, slipped on my Sketchers and bravely opened the front door. I had not been beyond the mailbox in three weeks but my resolve to mingle won out so I tapped the mailbox on the way by it and I continued down the sidewalk toward the corner. The fourth house down had just been sold and I noticed porch furniture in place which meant that it is probably now occupied. When I reached the walkway up to the porch, the front door opened and my eyes blinked swiftly about four ...
