Friends With Benefits

Standing outside my dorm building four months after my 19th birthday, it still felt surreal as I took in the beautiful campus. Standing there with my parents behind me allowing me time to soak it all up, I stood recalling the half-truths I told to get there.

At 5'5 with a petite frame and soft features, throughout my life, I had always been a "daddy's girl", as the daughter of shop keepers, my dad wanted me to leave school and join the family business.... I wanted to go to University.

Ideally, I would have become a doctor or a lawyer, but given my parents income and the fact that they would have to pay part of my tuition fees, I quickly came to the realisation that my dad would only pay for a course that benefited him.

I had two choices...... choose business studies and go to University or stay at home and work with my parents.

I chose business studies then set about convincing both my parents.
