In our house birthdays are no big deal for the most part. No real fanfare or overt celebration. This year was different as it was my 50th birthday, and my wife Jamie felt we should have some sort celebration. She broached the subject over dinner "Hun we should do something for your birthday. It's not every year you turn 50." "Yeah, you are probably right. What do you have in mind?" was my reply. "How about we have a quiet dinner for the two of us and then go out with some friends afterwards for desert", was her suggestion. "That sounds like just my kind of evening. Small and intimate." was my confirmation to her. "OK I'll make reservations and make a few calls to see who can make it.", she finished.

The day of my birthday arrived and we started off by having dinner at our favorite restaurant sushi restaurant. "I really hope you enjoy the rest of the evening." she said while finishing off her 3rd sake. I always like going out for sushi with her, as sake tends to make our evenings fun afterwards. Honestly, I was kind of bummed that we had plans with friends as we could be headed home for some personal fun.
