Barbara

I met Barbara on a Friday night on the slopes in Keystone, Colorado. I got off work early and drove the hour and half from Denver to take in some night skiing. The powder was fantastic. Sometimes if you get to Keystone around 4:00 pm, the day skiers are tired by then and head for the bars, leaving the slopes to open to whatever lucky soul gets there late.

This was just such a night. It was very cold, and the snow was coming down steadily. I was pretty much alone on the long blue run I had chosen. I was on my 3rd trip down the slope when I saw a woman fall just in front of me. We had the slope to ourselves. It was a hard fall and I stopped to see if she needed help. She was ok but having trouble standing up. She wasn't a very experienced skier and probably should have stuck to the green slopes. I introduced myself and helped her up and offered to ski down with her to make sure she was ok. We got down safely.

Reaching the bottom, she thanked me and asked me to have a drink with her. I was a little winded myself and she was a very attractive lady from what I could tell. So, I agreed. Sometimes with the snowsuits on its hard to tell what one looks like under all the garb, but her face was beautiful in a very open, natural way.
