"Beep! Beep! Beep!" The insistent sound of Mike Dawson's pager woke him up. He looked around and seeing his strange surroundings, for a second, he was disoriented. Then he saw the pretty face of the woman lying next to him and remembered. He was at Sally Mae's house, in bed with the pretty young woman he'd stopped to help alongside the road the day before. "Wow!" he thought. "Whatever's happening, it sure is intense."

Sally Mae opened her bright blue eyes and frowned. "What's that noise?" she asked.

"My pager," Mike replied. He dragged his pants over to the bed from where he'd dropped them on the floor and fumbled to find the pager fastened to his belt.

"I thought you said today was your day off," she said, sounding disappointed.

"It is, technically," Mike replied. "But since I'm in charge of operations, I get called if there's some problem, so..." He shrugged. "Sorry."
