It all started when we moved into a luxury apartment building with a heated pool.

I would do laps daily to get in shape. Sometimes the pool was empty, other times there were a few people of all ages lounging around tanning or just getting fresh air. Being of the age where more than half my dark black hair is now grey, at first the under 30 crowd wasn't interested in conversations.

But, after a few months that started to change and a few casual hello's were exchanged.

There was one young woman, early 30's or 40's who seemed to pay particular attention as I swam. I would catch her out of the corner of my eye in her one piece. What caught my eye while swimming was how she followed my movements up and down the pool thinking I was focused on swimming.

Pam reached out and shook my hand letting me know she thought I had lost some weight doing all those laps every day.
