Life had always been good to Felicia Daye. From growing up and working on her folks' Kansas ranch to spreading her wings and aspirations further afield, working as she now does for a big city law firm.

Maybe farming was out of step with the 21st century, she wondered more than fretted for the future livelihood of her parents who were staying at her spacious apartment, a perk of Felicia's well-paid job.
