My name is Jane and these days, I am effectively single.

I married my childhood sweetheart at the age of twenty. I never had a relationship with any other man. My husband was the same age, and I was his only girl. We were very happy together and so glad to be married. Life was a bit of a struggle to begin with as we were both in quite low paid positions while we studied. Tim, my husband was working to become an accountant and I was working to become a property conveyancer. Life got steadily easier from a financial perspective once we were both qualified.

When we were both thirty, Tim began to become unwell. I won't go into the medical background as it is not relevant, but we knew the long-term prospects were life limiting. For a couple of years, it made for only minor difficulties but his health was gradually deteriorating, to the point that in mid 2019 he had to give up work. Then the pandemic came along. Tim became infected. We didn't know where from, but it doesn't really matter. The virus was too much for his weakened body to cope with and he very quickly died.
