The Cabin

Work had been overwhelming for her. It had been years since she has had a real get away. Not a vacation with tourists, but a getaway. A relaxing time with wine, and rest. Somewhere quiet, quaint, peaceful.

It was Thursday and the week was dragging on Every time she turned around it seemed like her boss was giving her more work, definitely more work than the others. She had taken all she could. She walked into her boss's office and sat down. She looked at him and said to him "you're burning me out. I'm already swamped and you keep piling it on. There are four others who can do this work. I need a break. I am finishing this week and will not be here next week. It's not up for discussion. Say "no" and I'll be gone for good". As shocked as he was, he could do nothing but agree to her terms. Losing her for good would hurt the business much more than losing her for a week.

She immediately went to her desk, gathered the additional tasks given to her and dropped them on the desks of others and returned to her office. She sat down at her computer and started researching last minute getaways. It was the middle of January and nothing she saw sparked her interest.
