I woke up and realized I was lying in a bed. After several long seconds I started to focus on my surroundings. The ceiling was white as were the walls. My hearing started to kick in as I realized I was hearing a steady beep in the background. Other than that it was quiet. I tried to lift my head but it felt really heavy. I tried to look around and it looked like a hospital. What was I doing here? The last thing I remember I was at dinner with my girlfriend for our one year anniversary.

After what seemed like minutes a nurse came in and after realizing I was awake called for the doctor. She moved next to me and looked over the monitors and held my wrist. I guess she was taking my pulse. The doctor came in and asked how I felt. I tried to speak and it sounded coarse. He told me to relax; it was natural to have trouble speaking at first. He told the nurse to get some liquids and he would be back shortly.

She brought some crushed ice and rubbed it on my lips and eventually giving me sips of water every few minutes. She started talking to me and eventually I was able to talk back without any coarseness in my voice.

Half hour or so later the doctor came back in and asked me again how I felt. I told him I had a little headache and my arms and legs felt heavier than normal. He said that was normal without elaborating. He then asked if I had pain anywhere else. I told him no. He wrote ...
