Rest breaks are important

As Sue and I travelled back, from the most amazing holiday ever, our only thought was surviving the long trip from the South coast of France to North Wales. At least we were using our caravan and so could stop overnight in one of the many excellent Aires (service stations/rest areas) along the way. As we were towing our caravan with a long wheelbase van we had to park in the HGV sections because of the combined 50 ft length! This was not a problem though as at least we felt a bit more secure as there were always a few artics parked up for the night also.

After 8 hours behind the wheel we decided to call it a day and so pulled into one of the smaller aires without a petrol station, café or shops as it would be quieter but still have toilets and a nice picnic area. We were soon sorted nestled amongst the huge lorries in our home from home. After a bite to eat and several glasses of red wine we were totally relaxed and looking forward to getting on the ferry the next day and completing the last leg of our long drive.

On the way back from the toilet block we took a route around the end of the lorries and saw a group of about 8 lorry drivers playing boules on a patch of grass.
