In truth, I could not have picked a worse period to visit England. It wasn't the weather, far from it, glorious sunshine throughout my two-week vacation. No, it was the beaches and tide around the south coast, all of them heavily polluted.

I did, though, as luck had it, and in more ways than one, find myself on a secluded beach, a cove as they are known, one that could only be reached by boat...

Several days earlier...

‘Well this was a complete waste of time,' I told myself when I saw the warning signs on the beach in Penzance, Cornwall.

It was ‘The Pirates of Penzance' opera that had gotten me interested in a holiday to England after my divorce from Adam. The marriage wasn't going anywhere and so he'd cheated on me and with several women.
