I held my breath and nodded as Tammy said "I don't like where this has gone and I apologize. Saying no and being a bitch are not the same thing, so let me ask you a question. Is once enough? If something happened between us, is once enough? What do you want from me John? What do you want from me that I can give you and not compromise what I think and how I feel?"

I exhaled, forgave Tammy, then stepped closer and we kissed. It was actually our first real kiss ever. He laughed "Anyways, it's some kind of Country music themed thing, so for the most part you just enjoy the cruise, all expenses paid including the airfare both ways, hotel before and after, all meals, drinks and shows. The only thing you have to pay for is incidentals and souvenirs and as you know, you have a generous expense account."

So no down side, other than being single and having no one to take?

He said "I'll have Jenny send you the details and get with you to book everything. It's in two weeks. Have fun" and then he waved as if to dismiss me.

Two weeks?

Tammy said "I'll skip the shower. 30 minutes, 25 tops, and I love you too."

A cruise? In two weeks? By myself?

Jenny stared at me for a long moment and then Tammy came in and said "Oh sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt." Jenny's face and eyes got sad, she shook her head, then said "Come see me when you want to discuss your itinerary." I asked "Jenny, please?" She shook her head and said "Just come see me." She left, Tammy came in, shut my door, then said "So spill. What was that?" Now I was conflicted. Tammy was my closest friend, my roommate of several years, and potentially, at least once, a lover. I was happy and all the voices were quiet.

John, if I didn't have games to cheer and clients scheduled, I would go with you baby, but this was way too sudden."

What just happened?

In the elevator, Jenny held my hand proudly and said "Robert didn't even blink when I told him I was going with you on the cruise." I asked "Really?" Jenny laughed "I have his files all passworded. Call it job security." I laughed, then held the door to my truck open so Jenny could get in.
