It was the autumn of 2011, my wife and I temporarily separated when she moved to the city to take on a new role as the Housewares Department manager in a Major Department store.

Small town life just wasn't her idea of the great adventure. The lack of shopping, access to good restaurants and the remoteness of the country lifestyle was not enough for her.

Casey used to be adventurous, taking on challenges with the greatest of ease. She would put her hand to the plow and wouldn't stop until the job was done.

Most of our problems stemmed from empty nest syndrome, as our daughter had graduated high school and was now attending trade school to become one of the few female Millwrights in the country.

My wife felt unwanted, not needed and generally invisible to those around her as life started slowing down even more for us in this town of 400 souls.

Our life was pretty good. We made love regularly but not spectacularly, played cards, watched TV and genuinely loved each other, but it didn't seem to fulfill her. She wanted something more, anything more than the mundane, dreariness of just existing.
