This past year has been one to remember for me. My family and I went through a tough time, and once we got through it, something wild and crazy happened. It all began last summer when my parents had some problems with the tenants that lived above me. My parents own two multifamily homes, and while they live in one, I live in the other with my husband and son. There's two apartments above us, and while the girl who lives on the third floor is a complete sweetheart, the tenants on the second floor, who used to be our friends, became monsters.

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon, and my father had stopped over to check on the house, and make sure everything was in order. As he walked through the hall, he made sure all the windows were closed, and checked that everyone's doors were locked, especially the second floor, because they had the tendency to leave everything unlocked all the time, and it was a bit of a safety issue, especially if anyone broke into the apartment. When he jiggled the door handle to see if it was locked, he didn't realize they were home, and this whole big thing broke out. My father, and the male tenant, who was my husband's best man at one point, got into it, and that day we lost all respect for him.

He was screaming at my father, and at one point even shoved him. It was something that we never expected, as we had treated them like family. The cops were called, and eventually there was a court date. The court process took a bit, and it really wore all of us out. In the end, they ended up being evicted, and once they were gone, we had to do some work ...
