The lift .

It was a very cold December day in 1970 my name is Alan at the time I was 18 years old and had been working in the midlands ( Birmingham ) being a little short of money I had decided to hitchhike back to my parents home in Devon after several lifts I managed to make it to Somerset before being dropped of near the boarder of Devon more or less in the middle of nowhere just after dark .

The road was very quiet and I had been trying to hitch a lift for about 2 hours I was freezing cold frosty and feeling I was very miserable then a black car with a guy about 55yrs old pulled up and asked where I was going he said he was going that way and offered me a lift .

We chatted as he made his way down the dark winding road after a while he said that he lived not far from our present location and he would have to stop by and pick something up and said you can come in and have a hot drink to warm me up a bit and his wife wont mind , I was a bit weary but agreed .

A few miles up the road he pulled into a long driveway and up to his house, as we entered he called out Heather where are you a faint voice upstairs replied I'm in bed Rob , Rob showed me into the warm kitchen the said excuse me a second a when up stairs to his wife .
