Chapter 28 – Not Gay
Professor Hubbard was busy grading papers in his office when he heard the door close. Looking up, he was surprised to see who the visitor was.
"You're such a hottie, you know that?"
The teacher didn’t know how to respond to his student.
“I bet a lot of girls throw themselves at your feet.”
“What … are you talking about?”
“I came today to also throw myself at your feet.”
“Matthew, what can I do for you?”
“I think I could use some extra tutoring from you ….”
Matthew locked the door. He then reached for the hem of his shirt and pulled it off, revealing his washboard abs. His intentions were clear.
Professor Hubbard swallowed. This kind of tutoring was hard to refuse, especially how good his student’s mouth felt. However, as much as he wanted it, he also felt that it was important to address the elephant in the room. The last time they met, Matthew had seen him with someone else.
“Do you want to talk about what you saw?”
Matthew shook his head.
"I know it was awkward. I’m sorry. She was someone from my past.”
"It’s okay. You don’t owe me an explanation. As much as I want you for myself, I know we’re not exclusive."
"Matthew, I don't want you to misunderstand … I'm not gay. I plan to get married and have a family someday."
Matthew paused for a minute. He thought about what his teacher just shared and questioned whether he was gay himself. Was it just a phase he was going through? Perhaps he just wanted to have fun and experiment with the opposite sex.
As the college student struggled with his thoughts, Professor Hubbard stared at his body. The broad shoulders, the small waist, the athletic build. All his life he had only slept with women. Meeting a kid like Matthew was unexpected.
"Is this your way of saying you don’t wanna see me anymore?"
"Matthew, I’m not saying that. But I don’t want you to get hurt either."
"You don’t have to worry about that. I'm not asking for a relationship. I’m not expecting anything in return either.”
Matthew unbuttoned his jeans and proceeded to take them off, revealing a pair of boxer briefs that held tightly to his body.
“Even if you don’t wanna see me anymore, let me do this one more time ….”
That afternoon, the college student got on his knees to receive the extra tutoring that he needed from his teacher. They say that love is a verb, not a noun, something that you do for someone you like, regardless of what you may (or may not) get in return. Matthew’s love was always a one-way street. He just wasn’t willing to accept it before. Now that he did, he could no longer get hurt.
