By the second meeting of the now expanded Sappho’s Sisters, the mature ladies of Boston had paired off, taking a young girl, but of age under her wing.

At the next gathering of Sappho’s Sisters, this one at the Horton home, while caressing Catherine’s lovely bosoms, “Catherine, I’ve heard that the housing for girls at the Academy is beyond dismal.”

“It is, but it is just something we have to put up with. I share a small room with three other girls and four or five rats. ”

Mrs. Horton was appalled. “Come with me.” Henrietta led her to a guest room in her home. “Would you consider living here for the remainder of your time at the North End Young Women’s Academy?”

“My own room? You know there are three girls in my room at the Academy and it’s not nearly as big as this.

“Yes, dear, and you would share a bath with me.”

“Mrs. Horton, the bath at the Academy is down the hall, and I share it with ten girls. The bath water is always cold. And you say, I’d share it with just you? What about Mr. Horton?”

“His bedroom is at the other end of the house. He has his own bath. He’ll be in London for God only knows how long. Catherine, my carriage will take you to the North End every morning and pick you up every afternoon.”
