Chapter 38 – An Old Friend (2/2)
After playfully berating Gordon for his tenant selection criteria, which seemed to be exclusively young, good-looking male students, Matthew got up and made himself a drink at the bar.
“Before Jeremy interrupted us, I was on your bed, in my underwear, asking for your help ….”
“Damn, that’s right!”
“With your line of work, I thought you would know how to track someone down."
“Don’t worry, Matthew. I’ll help you find your father. Are you staying the night?”
"Yes, if that’s okay with you."
"You can have Jeremy's room. I'll get you some fresh sheets."
"Actually … I was thinking about sharing your bed."
Gordon was caught off guard by the kid’s proposal. He wasn’t sure if his former tenant was serious.
This was the college student that had played such an important role in his life. During a low period in Gordon’s life when he was still in the closet and lacked self-confidence, Matthew was the one person that made him feel normal. Truth be told, he would have done anything for the kid. Over the past several months, he really missed his former tenant.
"Are you … sure?"
Matthew nodded.
“Is this supposed to be an apology for Jeremy or a pre-payment to look for your father?”
“What do you want it to be?”
“I’m joking. Either way, it’s not necessary. You don’t owe me anything. You’ve already done a lot for me.”
“I didn’t say we were gonna have sex,” explained Matthew. “I just offered to share the bed with you. It’s late and I don’t wanna trouble you more than I already have.”
Although he was disappointed by the clarification, Gordon didn’t complain. At least the kid was back in his life again.
“How long do you think it will take to find my father?” asked Matthew.
“Could be a week or two, maybe longer. Do you have any info to work on?”
“Other than his name and that he was your classmate, not really. Do you mind if I stay with you until you find him?”
“You can have Jeremy’s old room.”
“How was the sex with Jeremy?”
“To be honest, it was hot. Similar to you, he has a nice body.”
“I guess I ruined it for you.”
“It wasn’t your fault.”
“If I take over Jeremy’s room, should I also take over his ironing responsibilities?”
“Matthew … you know you don’t have to do this, right?”
