Chapter 8: Filling in the Gap

Eros landed in the garden at the center of the wondrous marble structure. No trace of the gigantic cloud formation showed, which supported the grounds everything rested on. Even the movement of the palace could not show noticeably once on the ground here. Roses, hyacinths, cypress, magnolias, laurel, jasmine, honeysuckle and many other flowers and plants all blended together into an incredible scent and sight in this garden. Waterfalls fell into pools that, in turn, surrounded grottos suitable for privacy or company, as desired. Paths wound throughout, leading strollers on roundabout journeys all over the garden.

Marvelous marble statues stood within sight of the smooth cobble stone trails. Comfortable benches placed always near at hand so that an observer would be able to sit and really study a piece of sculpture at their leisure and to their heart's content. All periods of art and cultures were represented, based on their beauty and suitability to the section of garden that they were placed in. The background flora always enhanced the piece of art that graced the nearby path. No sculpture or statue stood within sight of another, keeping them from competing with each other unnecessarily. Occasional marble arches or grape arbors spread over the path. Spectacular wind chimes, hung from random trees ...
