Becky was slowly nodding off to sleep. She'd been on the freeway for a little over four hours. Her yawn drowned out the sound of the stereo. She wiped her tears with the back of her hand. She had only about half an hour to go, but she worried that she'd fall asleep at the wheel before she got there. She noticed a girl at the side of the road up ahead, sticking her thumb out sideways. She felt sorry for her. It was raining pretty hard and the girl didn't have an umbrella. She signaled and pulled over. She rolled the passenger window down as the young lady approached the car.

"Do you need a lift?" Becky asked.

"Yeah," the girl replied nervously.
