I could hear the music pulsating as I got closer the party. It wasn't a song, really - just that heavy bass thump thump thudump dump that seems to go through everything and make it beat, too. This was supposed to be some heavy-duty, major kind of party, and I was really up for the night - I felt good and put on some of my best duds: a ribbed t-shirt that showed off my wide shoulders and tight abs, my black jeans that showed off my butt (the girls always loved my butt! :-) and my motorcycle boots.

As I walked up street, I could see that the party had spilled out onto the porch. Guys and girls were hangin' out smoking and talking - and the girls looked great! I was pretty stoked!

As soon as I walked in the door, the heat hit me! A DJ was spinning these electronic dance mixes and everybody in the front room was dancing and gyrating to the beat, so the body heat people were giving off was incredible. Even though the windows were open, the hot, moist air was almost oppressive; but it didn't seem to matter - the crowd just moved with the beat, oblivious. The lights were low, and colored lights from the DJ's area illuminated the room with rainbow pulses that ebbed and flowed with the beat.

I went to the bar - no one was behind it - and reached over and grabbed a beer out of the sink. There was a bunch of liquor bottles back there with mixers, but no one really seemed interested in it. ...
