I was a geek in high school. A geek in the true sense of the word. I excelled in all of my classes. Learning came easy to me. My brain soaked up knowledge like a sponge. My parents considered anything less than A-pluses on my report cards a disaster. I had a terrible complexion. I belonged to the Geography and Stamp Clubs. It's impossible to get more geekish than I was.

Like all geeks down through history, I became a target for the bullies. The jocks were the worst. Perhaps they hated me because I never went to the games to cheer them on. Or maybe it was because no matter how hard they studied, they always got poor grades while I got good grades with little effort.

Jack Parker was my nemesis. He was the quarterback of the football team and that made him the school hero. He was big and good-looking. Of course, he was the most popular boy in school, and, naturally, the beautiful cheerleader Jennifer was his girlfriend. They were the King and Queen of Jefferson High School.
