It had all started some months before.

Adrian and I had been out for a few beers one night, and, somehow, we had ended up in a cheap kebab joint at 3am. Typical boys, messing about, I had eaten a particularly ugly piece of kebab from Ade's mouth, and, somehow, our tongues had touched. That was it. We looked at each other briefly, laughed, but hey! - we were both drunk and tired...

Ade and I had know each other for years since we had worked together. We saw each other every couple of months - I had been separated and was now married, Ade had been with a girl for a few years. We didn't like her, but he's your mate, you know? You can't really gripe too much when they obviously like each other and have been together some time... I was blissfully happy, and Ade, I knew, was having doubts, but staunchly defended his girlfriend. His prerogative!

We had agreed to meet up with Chris, another pal of ours who we hadn't seen for a while. We had both arrived at Chris' on Friday afternoon, and the idea was to go out to the bar for a few drinks, and then onto a club to try and find some cheesy 80s disco music to drunkenly enjoy.

Ade arrived after me, and was in fine form when he arrived. He had lost weight since I had seen him last, and he looked tired after a long drive. We were eager to go out, so I cajoled him into having a shower and changing quickly! ...
