Scott sat with Brett for a long time. The only sound that could be heard was the quiet beep of the heart monitor, and the gentle wheezing sound that the respirator had made, helping Brett to breath. He held his hand, stroking the back of it. He, suddenly, did not want Brett to be out of his life. Sure, they had been through a lot, but Scott still cared for him.
