INTRODUCTION

Five years ago, something happened to me, something so wild and unbelievable I still have a hard time believing it was real, and that it wasn't just a fantastic dream.

I'm a writer, a very successful one. I've written a series of western action novels about a character named Ranger Davis, and I've made a very good living doing so.

At the time the incident described in this story happened, I was happily married and had a college-age daughter. I was very much in love with my wife, and never thought I'd find anyone I could love as much as I did the woman I'd been married to more than twenty years.

Several years before the incident described in this book occurred I worked as a substitute teacher at our local high school. There I encountered the girl who brought a profound change to my life.
