Camping Adventures

This day would forever be held in memory. The weather was absolutely perfect I was on the highway, with the windows down, the radio blaring, and I was singing the newest country song from Garth. I was 23, unattached, and in the prime of my life. I was ready for adventure.

I was about to begin life in a new city. I had recently graduated from college and had been recruited by a major corporation in the Mid-west. I was from the New England area and found this part of the country very foreign, but felt a sudden attraction to the open spaces and quaint farms. The grass and trees seemed more green, they sky more blue, and my own body more alive.

The company had arranged to pay for a hotel till I could find an apartment. I didn't know a soul in town, and had the sudden realization that I could reinvent myself. There would be new friends who would meet a different Nick that the person who left home just 2 days prior.

My first day began in the personnel office, completing tons of paperwork and forms. Finally, I was escorted to meet my new supervisor and co-workers. They were all young like myself, and the word 'yuppie' came to mind. All dressed in business casual, like a GAP television commercial. I guess my coat and tie was a little overdressed.
