It was a slow night at work. A few people here and there, asking for things, making conversation to ease the boredom. I was glad for the break, slow nights don't come too often. I love my job mainly for the interaction with the people that come in. I relished the fact that I had time to chat, and it seemed they also enjoyed the conversation.

I was chatting with a young couple about nothing in particular, making jokes and laughing hysterically, when I heard the door open. I told them I'd be right back and headed over to greet our newest arrival. Still smiling from the last round of witty banter, I met him at the door. I was immediately aware of how attractive he was. He appeared to be alone.

"How many?"

"Just me."

I led him to a booth in the back. Looking over my shoulder to make sure he was still with me, I shot him my best smile. He grinned back and I thought, "Oh, we're gonna need a booth WAY in the back for this one." I wanted his full attention and silently prayed that not another person would come in so I could return the favor.

"Is this gonna be okay? I know it's a little far from everyone else."
