I had been working at the Country Club since the end of spring semister. It was now mid August and time for me to begin thinking about whether I was going back to school this fall or wait until spring semester. I could use the cash from continuing to work, plus, I could just kick back a little longer and let it coast.

My job for the last eight weeks had been in restoration of the old back nine. The club has 36 holes and the original course was falling into somewhat unacceptable repair. I had totally bronzed my 22 year old body. The hair that lightly covers my pecs was bleached by the sun. I had also done enough physical labor to keep my athletic trim build. I am no body builder by any means but I am certainly no wimp. Three of the guys and myself had formed a close friendship over the summer. We hung out together at work and during or free time. We ate together, played together, drank and just pretty much lived together. None of the three knew I had an eye for the boys. While I found two of them particularly good looking, I just wasn't attracted to any of them except as some of the best friends I had ever had, bar none.

It was a Tuesday morning and unseasonably cool for August in Charleston. I mean it was only like 74 degrees, that is like refrigeration to us southern boys.
