As I walked up the alley towards the main building on campus, I saw a car pull into the parking lot ahead. I kept walking, paranoia setting in, because the car was just sitting there. The lights had been turned off, but no one had gotten out yet. As I got even with the hood, the front door opened, and Jerry, one of my old professors got out. I heaved a sigh of relief.

"Hi, Dr. Jerry!" I said.

"Hi, Rachelle. What are you doing up here so late?" His voice sounded huskier than usual, but I didn't think to wonder why.

"I was just on my way back up to the computer lab. I left my purse earlier and I didn't want it to get stolen."

"Well, I'm on my way upstairs, too. Why don't you walk with me? I could see you looking paranoid over my car sitting there." He laughed.

I laughed in return, "I was a little scared, but as soon as I saw you get out, I knew I was okay." His eyes took on an air of merriment as I said that.

"You think so, huh?" He said, laughing even more.
