Does anyone remember the Red Barn Resturants? They were a fast food franchise in the late 60's to mid 80's. Serving burgers, fried chicken, fries, etc. I worked in one in the late 60's outside of Reading, Penna. This story doesn't take place there tho.

When I was working in Bradford, Penna, I was also pushing two more jobs in Penna. I would start the week leaving my home @ 4am Monday morning, hit the job in Marcus Hook, Penna, spend most of the day there, then head for Clearfield, Penna. I would usually spend the evening at the Fish Camp outside of State College, then complete the trip to Clearfield, spend two hours there and off to Bradford.

I started stopping at a Red Barn resturant a couple of miles from fish camp, it was viewable, and easy access off the 4 lane highway. The first couple of times, I got a fried chicken dinner to go. I would chat with the cashier/manager (her name tag identified her as Amelia) for a minute or two before leaving.

One night I ordered my usual chicken dinner to go from Amelia, and she said "can't get it to go, you have to eat it here, my break is coming up, and I want to talk some more." I agreed and took my dinner to a table, Amelia joined me, and we talked for a long time. I learned she was married to a long distance truck driver, had a couple of kids, and lived nearby.
