In the mid 90's I was an over the road truck driver, pushing a two year old Kenworth across America. The sleeper on this style of truck is known as a Condo. The Condo has two bunks (high and low) refridgerator, tv, and closet space with its own thermostat seperate from the cab. Two sets of curtains give you privacy from the outside world. One set of heavy Naugahide curtains wrap around the windsheild and side windows, giving you the entire cab and sleeper area. The other set seperates the cab from the sleeper area. I always pulled the windshield side window curtains, more space.

I picked up a load of glass bottles heading to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, can you guess what type of bottles they were? This was a run I did frequently, and I would stop in Kanona NY, off I-86 (the old Rte 17) at Smokeys Truck Stop for supper. Update my log book, and figure how far I could run before running out of hours. This day, I was almost out of hours and knowing there was no place to park for the night decided to stay at Smokeys.

After about an hour sitting in the truck bored, I knew I had to have a beer. I asked the waitresses if there was a beer bar close by, and they gave me directions to a bar about a mile away. I dropped my box in Smokey's lot and bobtailed to the bar. It was a hot summer evening, I pulled the cab curtains, bypassed the fuel saver, and let the engine idle with the ac cranking, and went in the bar.
