Chapter 2 Drinks on the New Couple

It figured! An hour before we were to board the flight to Loco Springs, Barb calls and says her babysitter is snowed in and can't get out. But, Mr. Thorne has a way of solving the problem and that we should go on ahead and the four of them would take a later flight.

Praying that this Mr. Thorne would make good on his promise, Brad, Ron, Vera and I went ahead and boarded the plane. The flight itself was bumpy, but otherwise uneventful, as most commuter flights generally are. No one tried to hijack the flight to somewhere else or anything like that. The plane being half filled with golfers, anxious to get out of the dreadful winter and enjoy chasing a ball around green hills for a few days, the poor guy would have been severely bludgeoned with a multitude of 9, 8, and 7 irons, led by Vera, angrily wielding her mallet-head putter.

The rented car Brad had arraigned for was waiting for us and we drove to the hotel. We checked in and agreed to meet in the lounge ...as soon as we had all gone potty... to wait for Barb, Greg, and the Thornes to, hopefully, arrive. ...
