As Christina made her way home on the tube and mused over the extraordinary events of the afternoon she found it hard to believe that she had done what she had. She had met a man, a black man and a complete stranger, and yet, within perhaps half an hour or so, they had made love to one another. And he had been black. She was still far from certain how much she actually liked Pete. He had been pleasant enough and he had certainly raised her to the levels of satisfaction she sought but she still did not think of him as being particularly attractive, perhaps because of his colour or perhaps because of some inbuilt prejudice on her part.

The knowledge that she had taken a black lover prompted another thought. Never in her wildest fantasies would she have contemplated giving herself to a black man. She did not think of herself as a racist but ...
