I was sitting at my desk in my office and going over some numbers. I was managing my own property maintenance company and was crunching some numbers to figure out where our budget was. I had managed to make a pretty good name for myself in the area by having my company and its hard workers maintain many properties, buildings and corporations throughout the state. Lately things had gotten a little tight ever since the economy took a dump. I took a hit just like everyone else and lost a few of my bigger properties that we maintained. As I was looking over the numbers, I realized that if we didn't pick up a few new clients in the near future, then I would be forced to make a few cutbacks throughout the company. That's not something that I wanted to do because I have a lot of employees that depended on their paycheck to feed their families and the last thing I want to do was to deprive anybody from earning a living. I also had my own family to think about because things at my husband's job had been pretty slow and we needed every penny that we could get.

We had gotten a lot of our contracts through word-of-mouth and advertising. As I sat and pondered what to do, I decided that I would advertise through some of the bigger newspapers that were distributed throughout the state. I printed out an advertisement for our company and even offered a slight discount for anyone who signed up during a certain time period and sent the advertisement off to a bunch of newspaper companies.
