Nurse Alicia with her white dress and red underwear was now at the bar by herself. She was the only one of the four American women who had not found love. When she got to the bar to get another glass of wine, "Miss, here take my seat."

"That's very kind of you, thank you." Alicia noted that he was very tall; perhaps 6' 6", good looking and fair. Not like those Italian boys her friends ended up with. Besides, he was older, maybe in his forties and fair-skinned.

"I'm Josef Seidlc. Let me get this." He slid some coins and bills toward the bartender. "Are you Austrian?" he asked, lifting his beer glass.

"Thank you. No, American, why?"

"Forgive me, miss. The colors you are wearing, red and white are the colors of my country, Austria's flag."

"Is it that obvious?" She blushed, although she was getting the reaction she wanted. She was hoping for a young, handsome Italian boy, not a balding middle-aged man.

Josef laughed. "Very obvious. And I must say, you look lovely."

Momentarily, Alicia looked around. Yes, indeed there were far more men than women, and all those men were surrounded by three or four women, all of whom were half her age. Josef would have to do. "My name is Alicia. Would you like to dance?" she asked.

"Alicia, the band hasn't started playing yet. They won't start for another hour," he laughed.

"I was thinking that in the living room of my house we have music, and in our refrigerator, we have beer."

"I don't think if I stayed here all summer, I'd get a more interesting invitation."

She took his hand and led him to the house she was renting with Constance, Frances and Gladys.

Once seated on the couch in the living room, with a beer in front of him, "You are just what I needed tonight. I was supposed to meet my wife here. She was to fly from New York to Rome and then travel here, but this morning she sent me a note saying that she met a man in New York and wasn't coming back, EVER." There were tears in his eyes.

"Oh, you poor man." Alicia was a nurse. She'd consoled hundreds and hundreds of patients and their loved ones. She took him in her arms; his face was between her breasts.

Then she said something Alicia never thought she'd say. "Josef, if your wife was here tonight what would you be doing?"

"Are you sure? Do you know what you're saying?"

"No, I don't, but I need love and affection, and apparently you do too."

Josef only hesitated a moment before he started unbuttoning Alicia's blouse. "Red goes well with your skin color." Alicia was pale with blonde hair, now kept that way by her hairdresser.

Josef could see from her exposed cleavage that her breasts were even paler. "You're a man, Josef, you want to see more than my bra, don't you?"

"Of course, but are you sure, Alicia?"

"I'm not sure of any of this, but . . ." She finished unbuttoning her blouse, took it off and then unhooked her bra.

"Alicia, they're lovely." She wasn't ready to tell him that he was the first to see them.
