Glenda Townsend saw the story in Stars and Stripes first. "Ladies, I think I have my General," she proclaimed at the next Happy Hour. "General Gregory Donaldson, the highest-ranking black officer in the Army is coming to Joint Base San Antonio. I've already got him in my sights," she laughed as she read. "And he's staying a month."

"You know how they are, Generals, that is. Where you find one, you'll find a herd."

"Generals for all of us," Morgan laughed.

"I'm going shopping tomorrow."

General Donaldson wasn't due for two weeks, but all four women went shopping. They did something else: they all cleaned their apartment, just in case. Glenda Townsend bought new sheets.

It didn't work out as Glenda planned, but it did work out for all of them.

The General had a suite at the Bowie Hotel and Conference Center in downtown San Antonio. After meetings on the base, the officers, and as the girls predicted, there were a number of generals, adjourned to the hotel bar.

"There's more brass here than I've ever seen," Glenda said, as she sat with Nanci at a table for four.

Nearby, Morgan and Meredith secured a booth. "Colonels, Lt. Colonels, Generals, we shouldn't have any trouble finding an officer," Nanci smiled at a Colonel who walked by.

"Not just any officer, Nanci, a general officer, specifically a black general officer."

All four were dressed for the hunt. Sexy, not slutty. Low cut and tight on top; short on the bottom. "Damn it, Meredith, if this dress was any shorter, I'd be showing off my undies." Nanci complained.

"You're wearing undies?" Meredith laughed.

"You're not?"

"Hopefully, there's a general in here, who's going to find out."

General Donaldson and a bevy of other generals were drinking at the bar. They were there for the same reason the four army wives were there. They were away from their wives.

As I said it didn't work out the way Glenda Townsend expected. General Donaldson couldn't keep his eyes off the blondest blonde you ever saw, Nanci Bourdeau. "Bartender, can you send a couple of drinks to that table? He pointed to where Glenda and Nanci were sitting.

Glenda caught his eye, mouthed ‘thank you, General,' and raised her glass.

That was like a signal for him to join them. "Good evening ladies, I'm Greg Donaldson and this is General Faas de Bruijn of the army of the Netherlands. May we join you?"

"Of course." To Glenda's dismay General Donaldson sat next to Nanci Bourdeau, moved his chair closer, and couldn't take his eyes off her.

She turned her attention to the Dutchman. She'd noticed how tall he was when he walked to their table. "General, what brings you to the states?" She smiled, thinking, the rules didn't say it had to be an American General.

"Of course, I can't get into specifics, but my country and the United States are working on a European defense plan."

You don't want to hear about the small talk among the four. Suffice it to say that within a half hour, Nanci Bourdeau was in the General's suite and Glenda Townsend was on a couch in a lip lock with Faas de
