Being Neighborly

I kept in touch with Rick and Becky for the remainder of the week, by stopping and chatting with them when I saw them outside, or by going over after work, to see how he was doing. Things were improving and he was being released by his doctor to return to work the following week.

The weekend was upon us, and I didn't have to work all weekend and Rick and Becky wanted to know if I'd like to come over and have dinner, as a thank you for jumping in during their crisis. I accepted, and we made plans for Saturday night. I was getting to know Rick and Becky pretty-good by spending so much time talking to them, and checking on him, and found out that they liked to play Euchre. They wanted to know if I would be offended if they had one of their friends come over too, so we could make an evening of it. I told them I was cool with that, and that I loved to play Euchre too.

I spent Saturday afternoon taking care of my yard work, and even did the weed eating in their flowerbed, as well as along their entire fence. Rick was getting better, but he didn't need to be over-doing it. Rick had come outside a couple of times and told me I was more than welcome to jump in the pool, to cool down if I wanted. I told him I would if it got too hot, but that I needed to get done, so I could get ready for the big card-party. He laughed and told me not to be late, as he went back inside. ...
