A KNOCK AT THE DOOR

It was Saturday night and I was relaxing on the couch. My wife was at a friend's bridal shower and I was enjoying some quiet time watching some TV. Dressed in my flannel sweats and a loose T, I was sprawled out with my head propped up on pillow. A phone ring interrupted my serenity. I thought of ignoring it but relented and picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Hi Jim, I was just walking by and I noticed that there is only one car in the driveway".

I almost leapt up out of surprise:" Steven?"

"Um -um...So are you alone?"

"Yes" I stammered, "But I don't know when the wife will be home. Where are you?"

My answer came as a knock on the door. I put the phone down and glanced through the peephole. Standing there grinning madly was Steven.

I had met Steven at a local bar and shared some beers and more. I could not believe that we got along so well given out twenty-year difference ...
