I have never been one to go out to the "popular" bars and clubs in town. Everyone else seemed to go there, which was part of the problem, so it would rarely turn out to be a fun time. Instead myself and the people I tended to hang out with preferred more of the corner bar establishment. They had just as good of a selection for the most part, good service, not as crowded for the most part, and best of all they charged less per beer and depending on the bartender ou got some free beers as well. You just had to make sure you tipped pretty good.

There was one bar in particular that I would frequent, sometimes with a group of friends and other times just to stop in for a few by myself. Sometimes you see the same faces that become drinking buddies, and other times there is a new crowd each time you go. Well, I had been going pretty regularly about twice a week. Once with my friends and the other by myself, especially if it was a particularly bad day at work.

It was during this stretch when everything happened. There was a modest looking middle-aged woman that I would see quite often. Sometimes she was with friends and others, like myself, she was alone.
