It was just as the street outside was transforming from the busy thoroughfare to a quiet avenue. Lovers, hand in hand paraded past the window. Some engrossed in serious conversation while others laugh at some unheard joke. Unwanted distractions that caused me to drift from an email that is long overdue thanks to a faulty laptop and a bumbling tech in the office I was sent to audit.

The waitress set another cup of coffee down beside me with a smile and some inane comment about having a hard time concentrating. Just what I needed was another Einstein stating the bloody obvious so, deciding to shut it down and call head office in the morning, I sat back to enjoy the coffee and get my brain back from wherever it had decided to vacation to. Laughter at the door caused me to turn and watch the entrance of a young woman. Short dark hair, piercing blue eyes, and the nicest legs I had seen in a while.
