Student teaching is the ultimate internship. You do someone else's work for zero pay. Plus you have your own work to do on top of it. Luckily I wound up in a supporting school, good students, and a solid teacher, Ellen. Ellen and I got quite close over the fall semester that I student taught under her. I found out she was in her fifties, divorced for quite some time, and enjoyed walks and taking care of her body.

The two of us got along great. We'd laugh, and joke, and make the best of things.

In Feb she read about a seminar for teachers the following summer. It would be for a month and they'd study US history in DC, including access to numerous behind the scenes archives and sources.
