The After Gig Party ----------------

In the 1990s my rock band did a gig at the Mermaid venue in Birmingham. The place was packed, and the show went terrifically well, the audience LOVED us, not always the case, but this night they did.

I should explain that I had been having an affair, for several years, with the lovely Lyn. Her best friend was Fionnuala, who we had never told that we were shagging, because she was totally incapable of discretion.

'Nuala', as she was known, had a sidekick, Jennifer, who she always called Jenfa, and they both had a friend called Jackie.

Nuala lived alone in a flat in a place called Shirley, on the same road as the venue. After the gig she invited myself and all the above girls, back to her flat for a post-gig party. The idea was that the whole band come back, maybe do an acoustic set , have a few beers, that sort of thing, BUT, all the other band members were married, or thereabouts and they either didn't ask, or wouldn't ask their partners' permissions.

So, the only people there were me (Derek) my (secret) lover, Lyn, Nuala, ...
